Today we test fired the M-1 rifles at the VFW around 1000 hrs. We fired two clips (16 rounds) with two jambs on extraction of the cartridge. Jambs were cleared and firings were completed. We are now ready to begin training for the rifle squad. It will take some extensive training to get it right from the loading thru execution of ceremonial firing (21 rounds). A squad of 8 members in dress blue with khaki shirts (no ribbons) will be needed for a ceremonial burial. The squad consists of 7 members plus the squad leader. I will be contacting Mark Tuggle to set up the training routine and schedule. Please advise me by return email if Saturday mornings will be good for everyone. Also advise me of members you know of that are interested in the Honor Guard/Rifle Squad. Thanks and Semper Fi Neil MacDonald |
